Far Cry 6 was a huge commercial success for Ubisoft, its gorgeous new setting, high-profile cast, and suite of fun new mechanics doing enough to differentiate itself from its predecessors. However, despite its relative success, Far Cry 6 still lagged behind in terms of sales compared to the likes of Far Cry 5. The reasoning behind its comparatively lower levels of success is multifaceted, but it is evident that there are still plenty of players out there who simply haven’t had the pleasure of playing this open-world FPS title.
Fortunately, Ubisoft is giving newcomers and fans alike the chance to download and play Far Cry 6 for free. For those who’ve wanted to see whether it manages to surpass the competition and become the very best Far Cry game for themselves, or are merely looking for a rather fun way to spend a few hours, this is the perfect opportunity. However, it won’t last long, as Ubisoft is only making Far Cry 6 free for a very limited time.
Ubisoft is hosting a free trial of its subscription service, Ubisoft+. Specifically, users can get access to Ubisoft+ Premium for just a few days, which allows them to play dozens of Ubisoft-developed titles, including the aforementioned Far Cry 6. This isn’t a free trial or demo of the game; rather, by getting the free trial to Ubisoft+ Premium, fans can play through the entire game and all of its DLC, much of which is critically acclaimed.
Of course, to truly capitalize on the free trial of Ubisoft+ Premium, players would need to smash through the entire 25-hour campaign of Far Cry 6 (or roughly 40 hours if one does all the side content as well) in just a few days. The free trial of Ubisoft+ Premium is running from July 18 to July 23, and once it’s over, if you don’t opt to pay for the subscription service, you’ll lose access to Far Cry 6 and all the other titles it offers.
Some of the other games included in the Ubisoft+ Premium subscription include Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, and The Crew Motorfest.
Far Cry 6 isn’t the shortest open-world game out there, but for those truly determined to cram it into the five-day free trial window, it is doable. At the very least, the trial offers a chance to see what the fuss is about and gives them something to do while waiting for the long-awaited Far Cry 7. It is perhaps best seen as a free trial or demo for Far Cry 6, even though fans will have access to the entire game.
If one decides to begin paying for Ubisoft+ Premium after the trial has ended, it’ll cost $17.99 a month. For comparison’s sake, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is currently $22.99 a month. In addition to the library of Ubisoft games, subscribers will also get discounts on premium currency, day one access to new Ubisoft titles, and monthly in-game rewards. Of course, it absolutely isn’t necessary to pay for Ubisoft+ Premium to access Far Cry 6 during the free trial, which is great for those who just fancy shooting a bunch of bad guys while surrounded by gorgeous tropical scenery.
