Fallout: New Vegas Remastered Accidentally Confirmed Early

Fallout: New Vegas still has a special place in Fallout fans’ hearts. As the sole game to have the distinct honor of being developed by Obsidian Software rather than Bethesda, it stood out from the pack of open-world RPGs at the time with tons of personality.

That legacy has continued to this day, to the point where many fans want a follow-up from the same team at some point, but Obsidian is pretty busy in its own right these days. For now, we’ll have to settle with a remaster, which is soft-confirmed at this point thanks to leaks.

However, thanks to a Redditreport, we now know that Fallout: New Vegas Remastered is coming sooner ratherthan later. At this point, fans are just waiting for its inevitable release, which is hopefully on as many platforms as possible (via Dexerto).

In a wild reveal, Fallout: New Vegas Remastered was likely just confirmed by a toy company. The McFarlane toys China-based storefront (which also confirmed Fallout 3 Remastered) is at it again, and Fallout: New Vegas merch has been listed, seemingly ahead of schedule. New California Ranger and New California Sierra Member are the two figures on offer, portending an imminent remaster reveal.

As one fan puts it: “Should’ve just revealed the remaster/remake at the Xbox showcase, this thing has had so many damn leaks.” Another writes, “After how well Oblivion Remastered sold, the chance of them doing anything but shadowdropping this is minimal I think.”

Others are getting impatient: “It’s interesting that Zenimax and Bethesda had almost nothing to show besides their ongoing live service games. I wonder if they will do a special livestream for their 40th anniversary later this month.”

One particular user reminds us that these leaks were a long time coming, even if a few were fairly predictable: “I remember a couple years ago, the first leak for this and the Oblivion remaster was by a guy who made a post here saying that he was a developer for Oblivion remaster and Fallout 3 remasters, nobody believed him back then and the whole thread made fun of him then turns out all of details he mentioned it were true.”

Given Bethesda’s prior presence at summer shows like E3, it’s interesting that XBOX or Bethesda alike didn’t show much beyond updates for ESO and Fallout: 76. While those games are still going strong in their own right, a lot of fans are waiting for something new to pop up, even if it’s a “new” remaster.

When Fallout: New Vegas does hit modern platforms, there’s going to be another resurgence for the setting. We already saw it adapted in the Fallout TV show, but being able to replay the Courier’s adventures all over again with a more stable build will be a treat.
