Microsoft’s Fable reboot has appeared in headlines a few times in recent weeks, but the latest news is great for fans of the upcoming RPG, because we’ve officially been given an update regarding a demo and early access. This comes about a week after it was announced that Fable was delayed into 2027, likely trying to avoid competing with GTA 6, which releases in November 2026.
Despite the disappointing news that Fable was delayed, fans were still treated to a new trailer during yesterday’s Xbox Games Showcase, which was honestly pretty incredible. Since then, the official Fable account on X has provided even more details regarding the RPG, including various editions for the game and a demo that’ll arrive later this week.
“We’ll be sharing a live gameplay demo, showing what it means to build an extraordinary life in Fable,” reads the first post on X. “Your turn is coming soon… we’ll share the new gameplay on Wednesday, Heroes.” Although no specific time was given, that means the gameplay demo should drop on June 10, 2026.
Of course, this was also followed by another post, which detailed pre-orders, editions, and bonuses. This included a helpful graphic showing off what the different editions will get you. You can view the full post here:
The Standard Edition costs $69.99, while the Premium Edition runs $99.99. The Collector’s Edition costs $199.99, and it’s the highest-end option. Pre-orders for all editions are live already. Both the Collector’s Edition and the Premium Edition will earn you 5 days of early access. Considering Fable now releases on February 23, 2027, that means you should be able to start playing on February 18.
The extra $30 for the Premium Edition may not be worth it for early access alone, but you’ll be given access to post-launch expansion, a premium content pack, and digital art book and soundtrack, so it’s not a bad deal when all things are considered. Depending on how large the expansion is, that could be worth the price of admission on its own.
Fable looks pretty awesome so far, so it’ll be nice to get to see the gameplay demo on Wednesday. If you want to check the game out early, be sure to pre-order now and get either the Premium or Collector’s Edition. February feels like a long ways off right now, so the extra 5 days of playtime might ease the pain.
