Four of the most powerful Saiyans in Dragon Ball history are about to be available for fans to bring with them wherever it is they happen to be heading.
Per Mantan Web, Bandai has officially unveiled the next line of collectible pouches inspired by fans’ favorite anime franchise. The Dragon Ball Z Spaceship Pod Pouch Collection from Bandai consists of four coin-purse-sized pouches crafted in the likeness of the anime’s iconic Attack Balls, each featuring a window behind which sits the visage of Raditz, Goku, Vegeta, or Nappa.
The Next Dragon Ball Pouches from Bandai are Perfect for Collectors and Casual Fans Alike
Each of the upcoming Dragon Ball Z Spaceship Pod Pouches is set to retail for ¥1,870, or around $12. The entire line of pouches are available for pre-order through select online retailers, although they aren’t expected to make their way into stores or the hands of early buyers until August at the earliest, depending on region.
While Goku has been at the very center of the Dragon Ball franchise from the very beginning, the likes of Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta didn’t join until much later on in the story. In the case of Raditz, the Saiyan soldier first appeared in chapter 195 of the original Dragon Ball manga, “The Mysterious Warrior From Space,” in which he came to Earth in search of his long-lost younger brother, Kakarot, who was soon revealed to be none other than Son Goku himself.
Raditz’ most infamous moment by far came when the villain attempted to completely destroy the Z Fighters entirely, including making a cold-blooded attempt on a young Gohan’s life. Unwilling to let the fight go on any longer, Goku held Raditz in place while Piccolo unleashed a lethal blast of his Special Beam Cannon, which quickly tore its way through both Saiyans, cutting them down in an instant.
Although Nappa and Vegeta both made their Dragon Ball debuts in chapter 204 of the classic manga, “The Needs of the Many,” only one of them has managed to maintain his place as a key figure throughout the franchise since then. In fact, the once seemingly unstoppable Nappa met his untimely end in chapter 227, aptly titled “The Last of Nappa,” in which he was not only defeated in battle by Goku, but completely obliterated by a totally callous Vegeta for his failures.
Vegeta, on the other hand, has gone from being one of the Dragon Ball franchise’s most loathed villains to one of its most beloved if unlikely heroes. Originally a stalwart member of Frieza’s army, Vegeta slowly found a worthy rival for himself in Goku, a new home for himself on Earth, and a loving family with Bulma and their children, Trunks and Bulla. Currently, fans are awaiting Vegeta’s return to the spotlight in the hotly anticipated Dragon Ball Super 2: Galactic Patrol.
The Dragon Ball Z Spaceship Pod Pouch Collection from Bandai is slated to arrive in stores in August.
