June 19 will be an amazing day for Dragon Ball Super fans waiting for the manga’s return.
Via the latest weekly Dragon Ball news broadcast by V-Jump editor Victory Uchida, the Dragon Ball Super manga is having a big release on June 19 with some important reveals coming. Dragon Ball Super mangaka Toyotarou will be sharing the 100th edition of his “Toyotarou Tries to Draw” series, along with an article that features statements from Toyotarou and an additional commemorative illustration from the mangaka.
While Toyotarou’s DBS manga has remained on indefinite hiatus for over a year, this upcoming reveal looks like it could even be the moment the manga’s return is finally announced.
Toyotarou Returns to Celebrate a Major Dragon Ball Super Milestone on June 19
The new release announced by Victor Uchida will accompany the milestone 100th edition of the Toyotarou Tries to Draw series. Additionally, this stream lands one day before the 11th anniversary of the Dragon Ball Super manga’s release on June 20, 2025. Uchida also confirmed that Toyotarou will reveal his personal picks of his best drawings.
Later in August, Toyotarou is also scheduled to be hosting a stream to announce the fandom’s top pick for the Dragon Ball Super manga’s best cover art as part of the recently held “My Favorite Cover” poll.
If nothing else, Toyotarou is taking an increasingly active role again in promoting and celebrating the manga. That may be for good reason.
Leaks from the upcoming issue of V-Jump magazine have already revealed that the issue acknowledges Dragon Ball Super’s hiatus directly, which fans theorized could be due to a manga announcement that confirms the series’ return. A leaked page from the magazine stating that “The latest chapter of Dragon Ball is on break” is actually the first direct acknowledgment that the manga is still ongoing fans have gotten in a while, making a very promising prospect for the manga’s return in the upcoming months.
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 105’s Release Date Announcement May Only Be Days Away
Now that this new Toyotarou article has been revealed by V-Jump, the theory that the Dragon Ball Super manga is about to get announced soon suddenly holds more weight. Even if this particular upcoming article for Toyotarou’s 100th artwork doesn’t reveal the manga’s return date, it’s still possible the next issue of V-Jump releasing on the same day could include an announcement of its own.
And it’s not as though this is all happening in a vacuum. Toyotarou himself hinted at the manga’s return a few months ago when he updated his X bio with the statement “everything for the series’ return.”
This was itself after the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball Super’s Moro Saga was finally announced, indicating that the infamous Dragon Ball IP rights battles behind the scenes had finally reached a conclusion. Whereas the future of the Dragon Ball Super manga once looked very uncertain, small hints have slowly been building up the hype among DBS manga fans.
At this point, it’s truly only a matter of time before the Dragon Ball Super manga’s comeback with Chapter 105 is actually acknowledged by V-Jump. It’s very possible that June 19 will be that time.
The Dragon Ball Super manga is available to read in English via Viz Media and the Shonen Jump app.
