It’s the end of the road for Netflix’s controversial anime adaptation of Devil May Cry, following confirmation of its third and final release. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix officially renewed Adi Shankar’s Devil May Cry anime for one more season, concluding the 2025 series for good.
Shankar, showrunner of Devil May Cry and Netflix’s Castlevania, confirmed that the anime adaptation of Capcom’s popular hack-and-slash series was always designed to end at Season 3. “For those of you who have been paying attention to the episode names, I have been showing you the structure the entire time,” he said.
“This was always Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with guns and a red coat. Season 1 was Inferno. Season 2 was Purgatorio. Season 3 will be Paradiso,” Shankar said. “These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga.’ Since its inception, ‘The Force Edge Saga’ was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a television series.”
