DC Abruptly Pulls Supergirl Movie Merch Featuring a Star Wars Character

Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is soon set to hit theaters, and there’s been a lot of hype heading into the movie with several merchandise releases already making the rounds. However, one such collectible hinted that a Star Wars character was going to appear in the film, forcing DC to step in to block any more sales.

The now-banned item was a metal print with Supergirl artwork that was listed for sale on DC’s online store. It featured an illustrated version of Alcock’s Kara Zor-El surrounded by some of the extraterrestrial beings she’s encountered outside of Earth. One alien was recognized by fans as Lexo Sooger, an obscure character from the deleted scenes of 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The product page has since been removed and the metal print, which was listed at $119.95 while it was online, is no longer available to buy.

How Did a Star Wars Character Wind Up in DC Artwork?

The artwork was drawn by Bilquis Evely, who worked on the original Woman of Tomorrow comic book that inspired the Supergirl film. As for why she apparently drew Lexo Sooger into the mix, IGN reports that images of the Star Wars character were erroneously included in reference material provided to Evely to design the print. As this is such a little-known character, it wouldn’t be very recognizable to anyone but the most hardcore Star Wars fans. As of this time, neither Evely nor DC have officially provided a public response to the blunder.

Notably, there is an alien character featured in Supergirl that’s fairly reminiscent of Lexo Sooger, which may have further contributed to the unfortunate mix-up. The Supergirl alien is similarly large and long-necked, and like the Star Wars creature, it wears a flowing white robe and a gold necklace. In any case, the metal print may be much more valuable now that it’s no longer available to purchase, heavily increasing its rarity as a collector’s item.

Milly Alcock Takes to the Sky in Supergirl

Craig Gillespie directed Supergirl, which was written by Ana Nogueira. Along with Milly Alcock in the titular role, the movie also brings in Jason Momoa in his DCU debut as Lobo, while David Corenswet is reprising his role as Superman, Kara Zor-El’s cousin. Matthias Schoenaerts also stars as Krem of the Yellow Hills, the leader of a group of space pirates who serves as the primary villain, along with Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, a girl who recruits Supergirl on a quest to avenge her father, who was killed by Krem.

Alcock made her debut as Supergirl in last year’s Superman. Beyond her own solo film, the character is expected to have a big role in other DCU projects moving forward. This includes her confirmed return for Man of Tomorrow, a follow-up to Superman that’s coming to theaters next summer.

Supergirl hits movie theaters on June 26, 2026.
