After more than five years off the air, Black Clover is finally making its long-awaited return with Season 2. The new season will pick up with the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, where Asta and the Magic Knights will be thrown into a desperate battle to save Yami and William Vangeance from the Dark Triad, setting the stage for some of the manga’s most memorable moments.
The first teaser has already generated plenty of excitement among fans, especially with its brief look at Asta’s new devil form. The timing also works in the anime’s favor, as Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover manga officially ended earlier this year, giving Studio Pierrot a complete roadmap for the rest of the story. There is no longer any need to worry about catching up to the source material, something that affected the original run of the anime.
There is also plenty of confidence in the studio right now. Over the last few years, Pierrot has earned a lot of praise for the production quality of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, and viewers are hoping for the same level of care to carry over with Black Clover.
While Season 2 of Black Clover is officially scheduled to begin airing in October 2026, viewers will not have to wait that long to get a first look, as the premiere episode is set to debut early next month, giving fans an early taste of the anime’s long-awaited comeback.
Anime Expo Attendees Will Get An Exclusive Early Look At Black Clover Season 2 This July
In a recent update from Anime Expo, the industry-leading anime convention held in Los Angeles, it is officially confirmed that attendees will get to witness an early look at the first episode of Black Clover Season 2 on July 4th, 2026, months before its television debut. The screening will be part of a special one-hour panel featuring Asta’s voice actor, Gakuto Kajiwara, and returning director Ayataka Tanemura.
With Studio Pierrot screening the premiere months before the television release, there is a strong chance they are planning a special theatrical run. Giving fans an early cinematic experience has become a major trend following the box office success of the Demon Slayer franchise. While nothing has been confirmed yet, the early Anime Expo screening certainly feels bigger than a typical preview event.
December 21 Will Mark Black Clover’s Biggest Day in Years
The long-demanded return of Black Clover’s anime definitely has a tease set up just in time for the Holidays.
The early premiere alone is a major draw, but it may not be the only surprise. While the full panel schedule has not been revealed yet, it would not be surprising to see Studio Pierrot use the event to share a full trailer and finally lock in an exact release date for the new season.
The timing certainly feels right. With Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War nearing the end of its run, much of the spotlight at Studio Pierrot is expected to shift back toward Black Clover. After years of waiting, the series finally seems ready to take center stage again, and Anime Expo could mark the beginning of its long-awaited comeback.
The Upcoming Spade Kingdom Raid Will Push The Entire Cast To Their Limits
While the total episode count for Black Clover Season 2 remains unknown, the production team is expected to move away from the weekly format that defined its original run. A seasonal schedule would give the staff more time to polish the animation and fully do justice to some of the Black Clover manga’s biggest fights. After a break that lasted more than five years, expectations are understandably high.
The story itself is also entering one of its most exciting stages. The race to become the Wizard King is back in full swing, with Asta preparing for his rematch against the Spade Kingdom. But this time, the anti-magic mage is entering the fight with a completely different level of power.

Sorry Jujutsu Kaisen, But Black Clover’s Ending Proves It’s Always Been The True New-Gen King
While other major hits stumbled at the finish line, Asta’s epic journey delivered pure satisfaction ending.
During their previous encounter, Asta fought using a tiny fraction of Liebe’s anti-magic. But now his newly introduced Devil Union form allows him to fight at maximum capacity, boosting his overall strength tenfold.
However, this new form is still far from perfection. With Asta waiting in the Clover Kingdom to master it, the rest of the Magic Knights will be forced to carry much of the burden in the battle ahead. This challenge is what makes the upcoming arc of Black Clover so exciting, as victory will depend on the entire cast rather than Asta alone.
