Black Clover has finally ended, but at the very least, it’s going out with one last epic release. After 11 years of serialization and a change to a quarterly release schedule for the final arc, Black Clover ended in May 2026, and while the ending was a bit rushed, when it comes to shonen manga, the series ended on a surprisingly high note that its contemporaries often struggle with.
Black Clover might be over, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing left to be excited about. The anime’s return this fall is one thing, but even more exciting is how Black Clover will release a new guidebook this August alongside the final volume of the manga, and not only will it have the most up-to-date information about the series, but it will have a new epilogue chapter for the manga, as well. That makes Black Clover’s ending even more exciting, and overall, it’s sure to be worth the wait.
What To Expect From Black Clover’s Epilogue

Black Clover’s epilogue won’t be released until August, but there are plenty of ideas for what its story could be. While Black Clover’s ending was mostly good, it did fail to resolve certain plot points like Lucius’ backstory and the motivations of the devil Astaroth, and the short length of the final chapter also meant the series couldn’t properly explore how the Clover Kingdom changed with Asta as the Wizard King. Those plot points are all primed for further exploration, so it would make sense for them to be covered in the epilogue.

Something that absolutely should be addressed, of course, is the love triangle between Asta, Noelle, and Mimosa. Despite how much of the story revolved around Asta’s love triangle, Black Clover ended without resolving it, and while there was a good explanation for it, it’s probably the most disappointing part of the finale. My Hero Academia’s epilogue was also used to close out its romance arc, and hopefully, Black Clover can find the time to do the same.

Black Clover’s ending is poised to be even better than it already was, and that highlights just how much of an underrated masterpiece it is. While Black Clover has often been written off as a cliché shonen battle series, none of which was helped by how much the anime was pushed as the next big thing, not only does it have far more depth in its characters and worldbuilding than people give it credit for, but the execution of its fun characters and incredible action is always phenomenal, and it proves that being cliché isn’t inherently a bad thing.
