The upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender anime series is now at high risk of being leaked, following the successful Paramount+ breach in April, which led to the widespread release of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender months before its premiere. Although Paramount has officially identified one of the hackers responsible for the movie leak, the company is being threatened with more potential leaks going viral, such as Avatar: Seven Havens and other unannounced projects currently in the works.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount conducted an internal investigation following the shocking leak of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, previously known as The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, in early April. The investigation found that the leak didn’t originate internally at the company, but most likely stemmed from a hack at Vision Media, a screening company responsible for awards promotion for studios like Disney, NBCUniversal, Netflix and Paramount. Shortly after, a 26-year-old man was arrested in Singapore after being linked to the X (formerly Twitter) account that first released clips from The Last Airbender before the full movie was leaked online.
However, Paramount isn’t out of the woods just yet, as the hackers responsible for the Avatar Aang leak now have their sights set on Avatar: Seven Havens, set to premiere on Paramount+ in 2027. “There are a substantial number of people who have access to internal stuff like this,” the hackers claim, “There’s more under the tip of the iceberg.”
Avatar: The Last Airbender Hackers Set Sights on Seven Havens After Leaking Legend of Aang
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender was intended as the theatrical comeback of the Avatar anime franchise, which originated on Nickelodeon in 2005, featuring older versions of the original cast with new, more appropriate voice actors. However, following Paramount’s controversial merger with Skydance in 2024, David Ellison, the studio’s new chairman and CEO, decided to lock the new Avatar movie as a Paramount+ streaming exclusive.
At the time, Paramount tried to sugarcoat the bad news by assuring Avatar fans that this was just the beginning of something much bigger and that the now-21-year-old franchise would receive full-fledged support going forward. “The Avatar Universe has captivated audiences for two decades, and Paramount+ is proud to be the exclusive streaming home for its beloved animated incarnation,” said Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals for Paramount+.
“The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Seven Havens represent the next evolution of storytelling from Avatar Studios — bringing together remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera to deliver the epic adventures and emotional depth fans have come to expect. These additions, alongside The Legend of Korra and the original series, solidify Paramount+ as the destination for the animated Avatar Universe.”
However, a majority of Avatar fans weren’t impressed by Paramount’s statement, given the company’s poor handling of the franchise years prior, as well as Ellison’s polarizing pursuit of Warner Bros. despite Netflix inking a deal with the few remaining major Hollywood studios. It’s why many fans view the Avatar movie leak as an act of karma for Paramount — as one online user put it — sending the film to “die on streaming.” Despite Avatar fans’ negative feelings toward Paramount, many are sympathizing with the cast and crew who are seeing months of hard work go to waste as Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender continues to be sold illegally on eBay and similar platforms.
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is still scheduled for October 9, 2026, as a Paramount+ exclusive. Avatar: Seven Havens is currently scheduled for 2027.
