After 4-Year Wait, $21M Survival Thriller Fall Returns With Anxiety-Inducing Trailer

Scott Mann is back for another gripping psychological survival thriller. Fall 2: Deadpoint has just released a first look trailer.

A follow-up to the breakout 2022 hit Fall, Deadpoint takes place after the events of the first film and sees a trip to Thailand going wrong when a rockslide occurs. The trailer, which can be seen below, details the incredibly real and horrifying circumstances the two main characters find themselves dealing with. “At 11,000 feet, oxygen drops to 13.7%, heart rate increases, blood pressure rises, breathing becomes rapid. Panic accelerates dehydration which leads to severe confusion… hallucinations… impaired judgement… fear.”

Fall 2: Deadpoint’s Trailer Teases a Thrilling Story of Survival

The trailer begins with a dizzying shot from above the clouds, showing just how high up the main characters Jax Hunter (Harriet Slater) and Luce (Arsema Thomas) are when nature strikes. “If you can hear me, please respond,” the voice of what appears to be a rescue operator says over the phone.

Footage then shows a death-defying trek alongside the rocks as Luce goes to retrieve a bag that seems to have been unintentionally left behind. When one of the footrests gives way, she takes a terrifying drop, just as the trailer cuts to its title card. “We shouldn’t even be up here,” the girls muse.

It’s likely that Fall 2: Deadpoint will follow a similar formula to its successful predecessor. Plot details for the sequel reveal that Jax is actually Shiloh’s older sister — and fans will recognize Shiloh as one of the girls from the original film. Rather than learning from her sister, Jax decides to pay tribute to her with a daring adventure to Thailand, agreeing to conquer the plank walk on Mount Kwan with Luce.

In Fall 2: Deadpoint, two friends take on new heights in Thailand, where unpredictable terrain, extreme exposure, and nowhere to hide push survival further than ever before. The Spierig Brothers directed the new entry, with Scott Mann co-writing the script with Jonathan Frank.

Deadpoint was originally announced in 2023 following the film’s growing popularity on Netflix. It was reported that a third film would also be on the way, with plans to expand Fall into a franchise. Mann, who wrote and directed the original Fall, will be a producer on both films.

Fall was released in theaters by Lionsgate in 2022, where it proved to be a surprising box office success. The film earned $21 million worldwide against its modest $3 million budget, and its popularity only grew even further when it was added to Netflix’s library. The first film starred Grace Caroline Currey as Becky Connor, with Virginia Gardner starring as Shiloh Hunter and The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Becky’s father, James.

Fall followed the two women as they attempted to climb a 2,000-foot-tall broadcasting tower, only to become stuck at the top with no feasible way down. Despite the plot demanding viewers to suspend their disbelief, Fall was well-received by both critics and audiences, and it is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 79% approval rating.

“As long as you don’t go in expecting anything realistic, Fall is a solidly suspenseful B-movie done right,” the audience consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reveals. Critics dubbed it to be “fundamentally absurd yet as evocatively minimalist as its title” while also calling it a “sustained adrenaline rush.”

Fall 2: Deadpoint is set to be released in theaters on Sept. 2, 2026.
