Masters of the Universe (2026) has shifted focus back onto Mattel’s classic, toy-inspired franchise dating back to the early ’80s. Sometimes known as the He-Man series or the She-Ra series, Masters of the Universe is a sword-and-sorcery franchise that broaches a lot of different genres. It’s got elements of fantasy, action, sci-fi, and even comedy, which means it has something for everyone.
The 2026 movie has somewhat mixed reviews from critics, but moviegoers generally seem to enjoy it, and with the flood of moviegoers, many new fans have been introduced to the Masters of the Universe franchise. Masters of the Universe (2026) is a great introduction to the world of He-Man and the Heroes of Eternia, but it leaves some information out, including the importance of several key weapons. This list will take a look at the five strongest weapons from the Masters of the Universe franchise, some of which made an appearance in the new movie.
Skeletor’s Havoc Staff is a Magical Scepter With a Ram Skull On Top
The Havoc Staff is one of the Masters of the Universe weapons that is heavily depicted in the 2026 movie. The Havoc Staff is mainly depicted as Skeletor’s main weapon, and it is a long scepter that stands almost as tall as Skeletor himself. The top of the staff features an ominous ram skull with large horns and sometimes glowing eye sockets. While the Havoc Staff is usually wielded by Skeletor, fans have also seen Evil-Lyn wield this magical scepter in the past.
The Havoc Staff is a powerful magical weapon that Skeletor uses to channel magic through. That said, the scepter is physically strong enough to be used in melee combat, even against other powerful weapons, like He-Man’s Sword of Power. The Havoc Staff is actually the sacred relic of Ha’Vok, one of Eternia’s three gods, and it is actually what turned Skeletor into the skeletal form fans know today. After receiving the Havoc Staff from Hordak, the magic of the staff cursed Skeletor, previously known as Keldor, and burned his face off to reveal the skeleton underneath.
The Staff of Ka is Traditionally Teela’s Main Weapon
The Staff of Ka, also known as the Kobra Staff, like the Havoc Staff, is heavily associated with a deity. In this case, the name of the staff gives its origins away, as it is heavily associated with Ka, a serpent god known by several different names. Ka, the Explorer, the God of Change, Living Experience, Passions, and Carnal Desires, is one of Eternia’s three Primordial Deities, right alongside Ha’Vok.
The Staff of Ka is a snake-inspired staff, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise since Ka himself is a massive green and yellow serpent. Like the Havoc Staff, the Staff of Ka is a powerful magical conduit. In the Netflix animated series, Masters of the Universe: Revolution (2021-2024), Teela even wields the Staff of Ka to harness primordial powers for herself, proving that this staff can go toe-to-toe with the Havoc Staff with ease.
The Sword of Protection is She-Ra’s Iconic Weapon
Adam’s twin sister, Princess Adora, also known as She-Ra, wasn’t in the 2026 Masters of the Universe movie, but she was teased in one of several post-credit scenes. She-Ra is one of the most popular and powerful characters in the entire franchise, and modern audiences may actually be more familiar with her thanks to the popular animated series, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018-2020), which ran for five seasons.
She-Ra’s signature weapon, the Sword of Protection, is also one of the most powerful weapons in the entire franchise. The Sword of Protection is a versatile magical tool that allows Princess Adora to transform into She-Ra. She-Ra can turn the Sword of Protection into any useful tool she needs, and it has been seen as a shield, parachute, and even boomerangs. This transmutation power comes from the gem embedded in the hilt of the sword. Originally, the Sword of Protection was purely magical, but in the 2018 reboot, it was created with both magic and First Ones’ technology.
The Sword of Power is the Most Infamous Weapon in Masters of the Universe
The Sword of Power is another instantly recognizable weapon that is heavily featured in Masters of the Universe (2026). A huge portion of the film is dedicated to Adam, living a normal human life on Earth, trying to find the Sword of Power, which he lost when he was sent from Eternia to Earth as a child. Skeletor also seeks the Sword of Power so that he may finally lay claim to Castle Grayskull and become a god.
Like the Sword of Protection allows Princess Adora to shift into She-Ra, the Sword of Power lets Prince Adam transform into He-Man. The Sword of Power is known as one of the strongest weapons in the franchise because it’s basically indestructible, can cut through almost anything, and deflect even the most powerful magic. Traditionally, the Sword of Power also acts as a key to access Castle Grayskull, a sanctuary and source of magical power for all of Eternia.
The Starseed is a Small Fraction of the Big Bang’s Power
The Starseed is a small yellow sphere located at the center of Eternia, and it is, without a doubt, the most powerful magical relic in the entire franchise. The Starseed contains a small portion of power left over from Masters of the Universe’s version of the Big Bang, aka the explosion that created the universe. This relic is, essentially, raw cosmic energy that can fit in the palm of one’s hand.
The Starseed is capable of granting wishes and can will almost anything into existence. Technically speaking, the Starseed itself is not a weapon, but because of its unique and powerful abilities, it can be the end of everything if the wrong person gets their hands on it. It is so powerful that it has corrupted every person who has ever attempted to harness it, except for He-Man, who resisted its temptation. The Starseed is heavily guarded due to its raw power, and it should come as no surprise that Skeletor has searched for this artifact for its endless potential.
