Romance anime can drag fans through a range of emotions, but it might end on a confusing note, leaving them understandably frustrated. The journey might be the fun part, but the ending matters just as much for the fate of a precious relationship that fans have been supporting for episodes.
Thankfully, there are plenty of anime that don’t just hook their audience with a fluffy romance but also deliver a satisfying ending. Whether it is the grand confession that fans have awaited for days or the sacrifice that moved the world, some anime proved that sticking the landing actually matters.

The duo makes up their minds to conquer the world of ice figure skating together, and their last routine on ice as a couple is mesmerizing.
My Love Story’s Ending Rides on the Emotional High of a Healthy Relationship
My Love Story has the cutest romantic struggles ever, but at least fans didn’t have to struggle with its ending. The anime focuses on Takeo, a warmhearted simpleton who gets constantly misjudged because of his looks, but manages to find the love of his life, Yamato. The anime showed some of the cutest moments between the two, as well as moments where the couple doubted themselves, but they still pulled through.
The finale of My Love Story is just as heartwarming as its plot. The moment when Takeo confesses his love to Yamato is beautiful and brings closure to their story. The ending showed a timeskip, after which Takeo, Yamato, and even Suna were shown enjoying their lives in college.
Love Gets Chosen Above Everything Else In Weathering With You’s Finale
Weathering With You, the anime movie directed by Makoto Shinkai, delivered a beautiful coming-of-age story of Hodaka and Hina. The two reckless teenagers go through plenty of adventures in the movie, but what made it truly satisfying was its unique ending in which Hodaka chose his love over everything else.
Despite knowing that stopping Hina’s sacrifice meant Tokyo would face a natural disaster, Hodaka could not let her go. The scene in which Hodaka and Hina fall from the sky together, coupled with a masterful background score by the RADWIMPS, will always be memorable. Both Hodaka and Hina face the consequences of their actions, but once they are reunited, the world seems to come to a standstill.
Violet Evergarden Provides an Emotional Closure to Two Torn Characters
The story of Violet, a child soldier who did not even have the privilege of learning emotions, has made everyone cry while watching Violet Evergarden. The anime spent entire seasons without confirming whether the first person to acknowledge her as a human rather than a tool was even alive.
When Gilbert and Violet finally reunite in the final movie of Violet Evergarden, it shaped one of the best romance anime endings. Violet had come a long way from her days as a soldier and matured as she worked as an auto-memory doll for people around the world. Finding her true love might have been the only way to justify every struggle she has gone through.
Wotakoi Ends on a Wholesome and Comforting Note
Wotakoi is one of the best workplace-romcom anime, and its ending did not disappoint either. Over 11 episodes, Wotakoi showed Narumi and Hirotaka balancing their otaku interests and professional lives as they figured out how to maintain a loving relationship. Wotakoi has some of the most brilliant characters, all of whom are adorable and deeply loved by fans.
Although the finale of Wotakoi did not show anything definitive, it was still a heartwarming end to the slice-of-life-esque plot. Both Narumi and Hirotaka deepen their awkward yet cutesy dynamic, while other office couples also hang out together comfortably. As the protagonists reminisce about their pasts and dream of building something together, Wotakoi ends on a perfectly sweet note, just like the rest of its plot.
