The DCU is officially in full swing. Last year‘s Superman, which received acclaim from fans and critics alike, is now being followed up by Supergirl, which releases in theaters later this month. The film stars Milly Alcock in the titular role, and she’s joined by Jason Momoa, who is making the switch from playing Aquaman to, now, playing Lobo.
Supergirl is set to focus on Clark Kent’s cousin as she travels in space, learning what it is to be a hero. That’s something Clark himself knows about very well, as shown in James Gunn’s Superman movie. Gunn’s iteration of the iconic hero is classic in almost every way, from the suit design to his Boy Scout attitude.
As a result, David Corenswet, who plays Superman and reprises his role in Supergirl, has already become a fan favorite. There are many moments that stand out with him, and it appears that the newest chapter of the DCU will include some more iconic scenes with Corenswet’s Superman.
Warner Bros. recently released a clip of Supergirl, showing Kara Zor-El landing on Earth for the first time, with her cousin there to greet her. This scene has already been praised, specifically for Corenswet’s wholesome personality as he meets Kara, and while the film hasn’t even been released yet, it’s already apparent one of this Superman’s best moments.
Superman’s Speech To Lex Luthor
One of the best moments from Superman (2025) comes at the end of the film. After Superman breaks out from the prison that Lex Luthor puts him in, the hero is in a race against time to stop his arch nemesis from destroying the city of Metropolis.
Superman eventually finds himself in Lex Luthor’s war room, cornering the villain. Lex is angry, upset, and volatile, and it’s in this moment that Superman delivers one of his most memorable speeches, as the words perfectly embody the spirit of the Big Blue Boy Scout.
“I’m as human as anyone. I love, I get scared. I wake up every morning and despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other and I try to make the best choices I can. I screw up all the time, but that is being human. And that’s my greatest strength. And someday, I hope, for the sake of the world, you understand that it’s yours too.”
Superman Saves A Squirrel
In one of Superman’s smaller moments, David Corenswet’s character is seen saving a squirrel as Metropolis is under attack. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it scene, but one that underscores the kind of hero that Superman is. He’s not just trying to save most of the city — he’s trying to save everyone, and that includes animals.
Superman has a history of doing things like this in the comics, and he’s a hero known to have a strong bond with animals. That’s also made clear throughout Superman, as he has a sweet relationship with his dog, Krypto, who’s later revealed to be Kara’s dog (and Superman is just taking care of him as his cousin is away from Earth).
Superman Meets His Cousin
This is the aforementioned scene released to promote Supergirl (2026). Kara Zor-El’s pod crashes in Antartica, and as the roof of the ship opens, Superman can be seen standing above, smiling and waving to greet her. Kara begins to speak Kryptonian, which confuses her cousin as he’s unable to speak or understand the language.
There’s then a funny gag where Superman begins to speak louder, before he stops himself and asks the point of doing so. From there, he shows Kara the outside of the Fortress of Solitude. Overall, what makes this scene work is, again, the lovable nature of this Superman.
This scene also shows the way in which Superman has grown since the beginning of the DCU. He reiterates to Kara his belief that she’ll come to love Earth the way he did, showing his appreciation for the planet, its people, and those who raised him.
Clark Kent’s Conversation With Pa Kent
In the second act of Superman (2025), the titular character returns to his family home, injured and defeated. He spends the night recovering and, the next morning, takes the time to speak to his dad. Clark and his dad have a touching conversation in which Clark’s father reiterates that they are his real parents, not those on Krypton.
This scene is up there with the very best in the entire movie, not only because of the emotion behind it, but because of how it ties together Superman’s arc. At the beginning of the story, he’s fixated on his birth parents, looking up to them for hope and guidance, but then learns to appreciate what he has on Earth more than anything else.
This scene, and Superman’s arc in the film more broadly, underscores one of the more controversial elements of this adaptation of the Man of Steel — that his parents sent him to Earth not just to save him, but to ensure Krypton can dominate the galaxies for generations to come. It’s a bold storyline, but one that works because of the payoff of scenes like this.
Superman’s Interview With Lois Lane
One of the earlier scenes of Superman (2025) shows Clark arriving at Lois Lane’s house. The two exchange a moment before Clark suggests having breakfast for dinner, Lois Lane’s favorite. He then reluctantly offers himself up to his partner for an interview, but as Superman, which would be a huge exclusive for Lois.
From there, Superman and Lois begin to speak, and it’s clear that she’s not going to give him any easy questions. The two dive into the controversial Jarhanpur/Baravia topic, with Superman defending Jarhanpur, noting that they are an imperfect country but one that doesn’t deserve to be treated the way Baravia is treating them.
This scene works so well in part because of the chemistry between David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. Not since Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder in 1978 have Superman and Lois Lane had such great chemistry, and it makes a huge difference not only for this sequence in Superman, but the entire movie as well.
