Prime Video has quite the selection for subscribers as June begins thanks to the new arrivals on the streaming service. On last weekend’s Prime Video movie recommendations, I explored titles like Norbit, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, and Kevin Costneer’s ambitious Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1. Three genres: a comedy, a superhero movie, and a Western epic from a genre favorite.
At the time of writing, all three movies continue to be timely releases for Prime Video subscribers, as they are all trending in America. Right before he returns to DC in Supergirl as Lobo, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is Prime Video’s 8th most-watched movie in the United States. Eddie Murphy’s Norbit is right above it at 7th.
The highest position of the three falls to Costner’s Western epic, with Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 at 4th on Prime Video’s nationwide chart. Looking at how well the past recommendations are faring, I chose to once again add three completely different movies for Prime Video subscribers to consider watching this weekend. There should be something for every kind of viewer.
Looking for a horror film with a different concept amid the genre’s rise in theaters? We got you covered. In search of the perfect romance to hug that special someone tight over the weekend? A genre classic is now on Prime Video. Want a sci-fi epic with an incredible cast? This cult classic is trending at the perfect time.

Escape Room (2019)
Starting the list is Escape Room. As its name suggests, the film’s plot is pretty straightforward, focusing on a group of strangers who must find their way out of a room in order to net a prize of $10,000. It is based on the popular escape room physical game concept, where strangers, friends, or families are locked in thematic rooms filled with clues and have a certain time to escape.
Escape Room plays as a Saw-like horror film that is all about survival, with a shadowy organization behind the game at hand. The horror movie was a major box office hit, going on to gross $155.7 million on a reported budget of just $9 million. With genre offerings like Backrooms and Obsession becoming box office success stories recently, Escape Room feels timely.
2
The Notebook (2004)
Going from horror to a completely different direction, The Notebook is the romance movie that everyone should watch at least once. It is funny, charming, and absolutely gut-wrenching in the absolute best ways. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are also having a great 2026, starring in Project Hail Mary and Send Help, respectively. As such, the new Prime Video arrival is worth revisiting.
In The Notebook, Gosling gives life to Noah, who falls in love with McAdams’ Allie in the 1940s. Their tumultuous romance is filled with surprising reveals and shocking twists, as Noah is not seen by Allie’s parents as being worth their daughter due to class differences. Based on the Nicholas Sparks book of the same name, The Notebook is an unmissable whirlwind romance.

Serenity (2005)
Finally, Nathan Fillion’s Serenity is the sci-fi movie that fans of the genre should check out on Prime Video this weekend if they have not done so yet. Serenity is trending in the US, standing as the streamer’s 10th most-watched movie nationwide. It was not a box office hit, but the film, much like the Firefly series it is a sequel to, has cultivated a loyal following over the years.
Serenity is the next chapter in the immersive sci-fi franchise started by the short-lived Firefly, bringing back Fillion and most of the show’s cast. Fillion’s Captain Mal Reynolds and the rest of his crew are charged with protecting the psychic River Tam and her brother, which leads to a spacefaring journey as they are chased from all sides. Serenity is an action-packed sci-fi entry, and with Firefly set to return with an animated sequel series, better watch it on Prime Video to get ready.
