Godzilla, I have a feeling we’re not in Tokyo anymore! Godzilla and The Wizard of Oz are officially colliding in a crossover no one saw coming, but which is now shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and exciting releases of 2026. While this clash of iconic IPs won’t arrive until fall, the teased comic art already leans into a gorgeously surreal aesthetic that guarantees the wait will be worth it.
Godzilla is on a generational run, with the King of Monsters landing crossover after crossover as he unleashes his terror across some of pop culture’s most iconic fandoms. Among his most notable crossovers so far are DC Comics’ Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, IDW Publishing’s Godzilla vs. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Godzilla vs. Transformers, as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles × Godzilla, and even the highly anticipated Godzilla × Sonic the Hedgehog.
However, the King of Monsters is now officially setting his sights on perhaps the most unexpected IP yet: The Wizard of Oz. If this historic crossover proves anything, it’s that Dorothy and the Land of Oz may have far bigger problems than a man hiding behind a curtain.
Godzilla Attacks the Land of Oz in Wild New Crossover This Fall
Main Cover by Tom Scioli for Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: The Kaiju of Oz #1 (2026)
Set for a release date of October 7, 2026, is IDW Publishing’s Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: The Kaiju of Oz #1, which will be brought to life by writer Mike Costa and artist Ryan Browne. Available at local comic shops upon release for $7.99, the official page count has yet to be revealed; however, based on this price listing on League of Comic Geeks, it’s likely this will be an oversized issue packed with wild antics.
This one-shot special will mark the first time The Wizard of Oz and Godzilla have ever collided, making it a monumental addition to the King of Monsters’ lore. While details remain scarce, fans can undoubtedly expect Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion to take center stage, especially given their appearances on the covers released for the series so far.
However, one can’t help but wonder how the group will take on a monstrous kaiju on their own. As a result, it’s likely they’ll tap into some of the Land of Oz’s more magically inclined characters to help with the crisis, meaning fans can likely look forward to the return of iconic figures such as the Flying Monkeys, Glinda the Good Witch, and perhaps even Dorothy unleashing the Munchkins against Godzilla.
One thing is for sure: this crossover is bound to be an exceptionally wild ride and loads of fun. Given that Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents has already seen the kaiju collide with classics like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Homer’s The Odyssey, and now The Wizard of Oz, one can’t help but wonder what classic the King of Monsters will terrorize next. Screen Rant is keeping its fingers crossed for a Godzilla × Alice in Wonderland crossover next!
