10 Strongest Anime Weapons Of All Time

There are more than a few amazing weapons in anime, but only a handful have earned the right to be called the strongest in the entire art form. For a weapon to be one of the strongest, it has to define, and sometimes break, the series that it’s in.

Amazingly powerful weapons can come in all shapes and sizes. Some are swords, others are daggers, and some are massive spears created to tear even divine beings in two.

Most of the time, a weapon is made strong by its user. Strong characters can get the most out of their weapons, but the strongest weapons can be used by anyone.

Inverted Spear of Heaven

There are a ton of powerful Cursed Tools in Jujutsu Kaisen that might be stronger than the Sorcerers and Curse Users that manipulate them. From the Split Soul Katana to the Dragon-Bone, it seems like there is no shortage of brutal weapons in the series. Out of them all, however, none are stronger than the Inverted Spear of Heaven.

The Inverted Spear of Heaven is the simplest Cursed Tool of them all, and it shines in its basicness. The Inverted Spear of Heaven can counter all Cursed Techniques. It’s the one tool that can counter Satoru Gojo, arguably the strongest character in the entire series.

Every Jujutsu Kaisen Character Stronger Than Gojo, Ranked

The title of strongest belonged to Satoru Gojo, but these Jujutsu Kaisen characters are capable of surpassing him and giving him a difficult time.

Toji Fushiguro, one of the best villains in anime, used this tool to cut through Gojo’s Infinity and slice the Six Eyes user into ribbons. If Toji had used it on his head, it would have killed him once and for all. The Inverted Spear of Heaven is such a powerful tool that Gojo either hid or destroyed it right after he killed Toji, removing it from play permanently.

Demon-Slayer Sword

The Demon-Slayer Sword is Asta’s first sword in Black Clover, and it’s easily his strongest. While his other swords are incredibly useful, the Demon-Slayer Sword fits Asta’s fighting style perfectly. As a physically gifted fighter, Asta does his best when he’s up close, and the Demon-Slayer helps him close distance with ease.

It blocks all forms of magic, making Asta basically untouchable even against some of the strongest characters in Black Clover. Asta can use the Demon-Slayer Sword to fly as making, giving it a versatility that takes the Black Bull up a few notches. Without this sword, Asta wouldn’t be able to do half of the things he can.

Spear of Longinus

The Spear of Longinus is one of the most terrifying weapons in anime. Like everything in Neon Genesis Evangelion, there is something deeply unsettling about it. The Spear itself feels sentient in a disturbing way, and its power is nothing to scoff at.

The Spear of Longinus is one of the only weapons that can kill Evangelion Units and Angels with ease. It can get through any Absolute Terror Field with basically no resistance and can be launched from hundreds of miles away with a brutal level of accuracy.

Zangetsu

Ichigo Kurasaki’s Zanpakuto isn’t like most. It’s a fusion of his mother’s and father’s powers, giving him strength that most in the Soul Society can’t come anywhere near. His Zangetsu might be the single strongest weapon in Bleach, and, at the very least, it gives Ichigo an edge over nearly every opponent he comes across.

His Zangetsu comes with a range of abilities that can devastate with ease. The Getsuga Tensho, or Moon-Fang Piercer of the Heavens, sends out a crescent blade that can dice up just about anything. It’s a perfect weapon for Ichigo that couldn’t be used nearly as well by anyone else.

Yoru

One Piece has more than a dozen weapons that could be considered top-tier. The series itself has its own tier system, letting fans and pirates alike know which weapons should be considered the best. There are a dozen Supreme Grade swords in One Piece, and while they’re all massively powerful, it’s Dracule Mihawk’s Yoru that reigns supreme.

While there is a good argument to be had that Zoro’s Enma is the strongest sword in the series for its ability to draw out its user’s Haki, Yoru is explicitly said to be the strongest Black Blade there is. Not only is Yoru the strongest, it’s used by the best swordsman in the world. It’s a top-tier weapon that is basically without equal, and that’s saying something given the range of weapons in One Piece.

The Dominator

Psycho Pass Season One, Gino Kogami and Akane

The Dominator is a distinctly unique weapon in Psycho-Pass. It might be the only weapon in anime that reacts to its target, changing the firing mode without the shooter having to press a button. It looks like a fairly normal, albeit high-tech, pistol, but it is so much more.

The Dominator can switch between paralyzing its target and blowing them to smithereens in a moment. The Destroy Decomposer mode, the most powerful mode in The Dominator’s arsenal, can vaporize nearly anything in its path. It’s an incredibly complex and impressive weapon that nobody in their right mind wants to be on the wrong side of.

Tessaiga

Inuyasha swings sword in Inuyasha

Inuyasha is a criminally underrated series for what it did for anime. It’s one of the first isekai series and was made well before the current boom of the genre. There are a few great weapons in the series, but none are quite as powerful and captivating as the Tessaiga.

Given to Inuyasha as a gift from his father, the Tessaiga becomes stronger the more that it’s used. It’s a powerful tool that can kill hundreds of demons at once, and it’s easy to see why Inuyasha’s brother was so jealous of the sword.

Divine Axe Rhitta

Escanor vs. Galand
The-Seven-Deadly-Sins-Escanor-Galand

The Divine Axe Rhitta was made to be used by Escanor. The Lion Sin of Pride in The Seven Deadly Sins matches his weapon perfectly, and it’s his overwhelming strength that gets the most out of it. This weapon can slice the strongest enemies in the series in half with ease, and that’s no easy feat.

One of Rhitta’s greatest abilities is how well it can pull out and use Escanor’s strength. A weapon is usually only as powerful as the person using it, and in Escanor’s hands, Rhitta is unmatched. They bring the best out of one another, which is great for Escanor and terrifying for anyone dumb enough to stand in his way.

The Sword of Rupture Ea

There aren’t many weapons in anime so visibly dominant as the Sword of Rupture, Ea. Most great weapons take some time to understand, but the Sword of Rupture is immediately identifiable as a weapon without equal. Gilgamesh uses this weapon in the Fate series not when he wants to win a battle, but when he wants to end it.

Victory is a given when Ea is used. There isn’t anything that can really overcome its dominance, and in the hands of Gilgamesh, it feels like the weapon shapes reality itself. There isn’t another series that this weapon could truly exist in, but in the Fate franchise, it feels perfect.

Death Note

Light Yagami smirking in the Death Note anime

There’s no questioning the Death Note’s status as the strongest weapon in anime. It’s so overpowered that it wouldn’t work in any other series, as after a few episodes, there would be no more villains left. The Death Note is able to kill anyone in the entire world so long as their name is written on its pages, and the cause of death can be anything the writer chooses.

Death Note is one of the best anime series of all time because of how simple this tool is. The series is deeply complex, which is a great juxtaposition against the Death Note’s incredibly simple nature. Unlike a normal weapon, the Death Note can be used from anywhere, by anyone, at any time. It’s a deeply disturbing tool that leaves no trace behind, the sign of a truly magnificent weapon.
