Although The Mandalorian & Grogu is the latest Star Wars movie released by Lucasfilm, there are plenty more projects on the way to get excited about. Between upcoming movies, Disney+ series, video games, and animated projects, the galaxy far, far away is set to expand in some pretty awesome ways in the next few years.
Whether it’s ancient Jedi history, the aftermath of the sequel trilogy, The Dark Times, Clone Wars, and/or debuting brand-new heroes and villains, Lucasfilm is prepared to release plenty more stories following the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu (the first Star Wars movie since 2019’s Rise of Skywalker). Keeping that in mind, here are ten Star Wars projects I’m most excited to see in 2026 and beyond.

Ahsoka Season 2
Currently, very few Star Wars projects have me more excited than Ahsoka season 2. Set to release at the beginning of 2027, the series will continue the adventures of Ahsoka Tano and her allies in the New Republic Era.
At the end of the first season, Ahsoka and her apprentice Sabine Wren were left stranded on the extragalactic planet of Peridea, while the Empire’s Grand Admiral Thrawn and Jedi Ezra Bridger returned to the known galaxy after spending nearly a decade in exile. As such, the stakes for the New Republic have never been higher now that Thrawn has returned (and will no doubt rally the Imperial Remnant factions). Meanwhile, Peridea was teased to have major connections to the cosmic Force beings known as the Mortis gods.
At present, Ahsoka season 2 has the potential to change Star Wars more than most projects currently in development. Featuring beloved characters and continuing the journey of Ahsoka Tano herself, it’s easily the Star Wars project I’m most excited to see after The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Star Wars: Starfighter
If Ahsoka season 2 is one of the most exciting shows, Star Wars: Starfighter is easily one of Lucasfilm’s most exciting upcoming films. Also set to release in 2027, the Shawn Levy-directed movie starring Ryan Gosling is set to take place five years after The Rise of Skywalker, making it the furthest project on the Star Wars timeline yet. Featuring a brand-new cast of heroes and villains, Starfighter has the chance to redefine the franchise for a new era, 50 years after the very first Star Wars movie.
Flynn Gray is set to play a young boy whom Gosling’s character is expected to protect, while Amy Adams will reportedly play the mother to Flynn Gray’s character. Matt Smith and Mia Goth will play villains in the new Starfighter movie, while other confirmed actors include Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, and Daniel Ings.

Maul – Shadow Lord Season 2
Following the major success of its first season, Maul – Shadow Lord season 2 is expected to continue exploring the unseen chapters of the former Sith Lord during the Dark Times, when Maul was building power in the criminal underworld to strike at Emperor Palpatine, his old master. After the end of the first season, Maul barely escaped a duel with Darth Vader himself and his Imperial Inquisitors, while also recruiting Jedi Padawan Devon Izara to be his new apprentice, agreeing to learn the ways of the dark side.
While an official release date has yet to be announced, the next season is expected to be released within the next couple of years. As such, it will be fascinating to see how Maul’s story in Shadow Lord leads to his role in Star Wars Rebels.
7
The Ninth Jedi
Originally introduced in episodes of the animated Star Wars: Visions anthology, The Ninth Jedi is now receiving a full series continuation in 2026. While non-canonical, the world of The Ninth Jedi is absolutely fascinating. Set centuries after the known Star Wars timeline, the story follows Kara and a new generation of Force users attempting to restore the Jedi Order after its near extinction, featuring some incredibly unique lightsaber lore as well.
6
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Expected to release in October 2026, the upcoming Galactic Racer game will focus on a new generation of racers competing across the galaxy during the New Republic era. While podracing has always been one of Star Wars’ coolest concepts, video games have been the place where it’s received the best spotlight outside The Phantom Menace. Now, Galactic Racer is prepared to expand the racing scene further with pods, landspeeders, and speederbikes. That said, beloved racing legends like Sebulba and Ben Quadinaros are expected to be featured as well.
5
Star Wars: Zero Company
Expected in August 2026, Star Wars: Zero Company is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most intriguing gaming projects. Set during the Clone Wars era, the new single-player turn-based strategy game will follow an elite squad of unique agents operating behind enemy lines, including a Jedi Padawan, a former clone trooper, an Umbaran, and even a Mandalorian. Additionally, major characters like Anakin Skywalker are also expected to be featured.
4
Star Wars: Legacy
Releasing July 2026, Star Wars: Legacy is an upcoming novel starring General Leia Organa and Rey between the events of The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. Doing her best to train Rey in the ways of the Force, the new novel from Madeleine Roux will see Leia and her apprentice visiting the ancient world of Tython (first seen in The Mandalorian) to seek knowledge about fixing Rey’s lightsaber (the same blade that once belonged to Luke and Anakin Skywalker).
3
The Fall of Kylo Ren
Releasing August 2026, Marvel Comics’ canonical The Fall of Kylo Ren series will be the third chapter of Charles Soule’s “Kylo Ren Trilogy”, continuing the unseen journey of Kylo Ren before the events of Rise of Skywalker, paying off the major Ben Solo cliffhanger from Soule’s previous Legacy of Vader series.
Like Legacy of Vader and The Rise of Kylo Ren before it, The Fall of Kylo Ren will no doubt further flesh out Kylo Ren’s character and his major struggle between the dark side and the pull of the light, further cementing his status as one of the best sequel trilogy characters.
2
Fate of the Old Republic
One of the most anticipated Star Wars video games is Fate of the Old Republic.
Set thousands of years before the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic will reportedly explore the aftermath of ancient Jedi and Sith conflicts that have only been referenced in the modern Disney canon, though likely a loose continuation of the classic Old Republic games from the previous canon now known as Legends.
By far, the Old Republic era remains one of the most requested settings in franchise history. As such, the opportunity to finally bring those stories fully into canon could open the door to countless future movies, games, and new series, expanding Star Wars mythology on an unprecedented level.

Star Wars Jedi 3
Without a doubt, the journey of Jedi survivor Cal Kestis has become one of the strongest narratives in modern Star Wars, especially during the Dark Times of the Empire’s rule between the prequels and original trilogy of films. So far, Respawn Entertainment has released Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel, Jedi: Survivor.
Although a concluding third game is in the works, Respawn has not yet confirmed a release date, though fans are eager to see how Cal’s story might end, especially after the significant loss he experienced at the end of Survivor, leading many to speculate that Cal may struggle with the temptations of the dark side.
