Cillian Murphy is back for A Quiet Place Part III, and new set photos have emerged giving fans their first look at his return to this world crawling with blind, hearing-sensitive aliens.
In 2021, Murphy starred opposite Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place Part II, where he played Emmett, a friend of John Krasinski’s late character, Lee Abbott. The hardened survivor made it out of the sequel alive alongside main protagonist Evelyn, priming him to face these horrific creatures once again in A Quiet Place Part III. With a little over a year to go until the movie’s release, Murphy has now been sighted filming a scene with one of his new co-stars.
These set photos (via @gofckapineapple) show the actor running next to a brown building on the set of A Quiet Place Part III, with Jack O’Connell trailing behind him. Both men are decked out in gear, but it’s unclear if they’re fleeing from the aliens or just trying to get somewhere in a hurry. These photos come roughly a month after A Quiet Place Part III began principal photography.
Emmett was seen towards the end of A Quiet Place Part II escaping with Millicent Simmond’s Regan, the daughter of Lee and Evelyn, escaping to the radio station on the island hosting a colony of survivors. He watched as the girl used the signal emitted from her cochlear implant to incapacitate the alien that was hunting them down, then kill it. Even better, Regan left the implant running next to a radio broadcasting the signal, meaning anyone on that frequency can weaken nearby aliens, too. That allowed her brother Marcus, played by Noah Jupe, to escape a similar jam with his mother and Emmett’s infant son.
No plot details for A Quiet Place Part III have been revealed yet, nor has it been announced how much time has passed between it and Part II. O’Connell is playing a soldier, but his identity remains a secret. The actor’s previous experience in the horror genre include Sinners and the first two 28 Years Later movies. Love Lies Bleeding’s Katy O’Brian and A House of Dynamite’s Jason Clarke have also been cast as undisclosed characters.
Behind the scenes, Krasinski resumes his directorial duties on A Quiet Place Part III, and just like with Part II, he wrote the script by himself. The filmmaker is also producing the upcoming horror movie alongside Allyson Seeger for Sunday Night, and Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form from Platinum Dunes. Krasinski announced A Quiet Place Part III‘s new and returning cast members in March, and seemingly hinted that this would be the final chapter of the horror saga.
A Quiet Place Part III opens in theaters on July 30, 2027. It will follow three years after the prequel spinoff A Quiet Place: Day One, which took place at the start of these aliens’ invasion of Earth. This franchise has also expanded through the video game A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead and the comic book limited series A Quiet Place: Storm Warning.
